Epistle
-
Thank you for choosing a timepiece from the Epistle Collection.
The Epistle Collection was created at the intersection of horology, faith, and purpose. Each Epistle is designed around a distinct message, expressed through its materials, details, inscription, and individual character.
Like an epistle itself, every watch in the collection carries a message.
As the collection grows, future Epistle timepieces may introduce new movements, complications, materials, and methods of displaying time. This manual will evolve alongside them.
The following instructions apply specifically to Epistle 1 unless otherwise indicated.
-
Epistle 1 is the first chapter of the Epistle Collection.
Its design pairs a Milk & Honey Dial with the warm character of the Honeyed Mirage Bezel, housed within a 40 mm stainless-steel case.
The engraved caseback bears the words:
“The Name Above All Other Names”
Each Epistle 1 is individually serialized, creating a permanent identity for every timepiece produced.

Epistle 1 uses a traditional three-hand analog display.
The short hand indicates the hour.
The long hand indicates the minutes.
The slender seconds hand indicates the passing seconds.
The deliberately restrained display keeps the focus on the Milk & Honey Dial and allows Epistle 1 to present its message without unnecessary visual complication.
-
Epistle 1 is operated using the crown located on the side of the case.
To Set the Time
Gently pull the crown outward into the time-setting position.
Rotate the crown until the hour and minute hands indicate the desired time.
Gently press the crown completely back against the case.
Always ensure that the crown has been returned fully to its normal position after setting the watch.
Never use excessive force when operating the crown.
-
Epistle 1 is powered by the Swiss Ronda 763 quartz calibre.
Quartz movements use electrical energy supplied by a battery and therefore do not require manual winding.
When the watch stops operating, the battery may require replacement.
Battery Replacement
Maison d’Aphelion recommends that battery replacement be performed by a qualified watchmaker or watch service professional.
Opening the watch improperly may damage the movement, case, crystal, seals, dial, or other components and may compromise its water resistance.
A depleted battery should not remain inside the watch for an extended period. Battery leakage may cause significant damage to the movement.
Following any battery replacement or opening of the case, Maison d’Aphelion recommends that the watch's seals and water resistance be checked before further exposure to water.
-
Epistle 1 is rated to 5 ATM / 50 meters of water resistance.
This rating provides protection against normal daily exposure to moisture, including rain, splashes, and brief incidental contact with water.
A 5 ATM rating should not be interpreted as an invitation to routinely wear the watch underwater or at a literal depth of 50 meters.
Epistle 1 is not intended for diving or high-impact aquatic activities.
Never operate or pull the crown while the watch is wet or submerged.
Water resistance is not permanent. Gaskets and seals can deteriorate with age, wear, temperature changes, impacts, and servicing.
If the case has been opened, the watch has sustained a significant impact, or moisture appears beneath the sapphire crystal, have the watch inspected before exposing it to water again.
-
Epistle 1 is fitted with a 20 mm NATO strap.
The NATO design passes beneath the watch case and provides an additional degree of security by keeping the watch attached to the wrist even if one spring bar becomes disengaged.
Fitting the Strap
Feed the longer portion of the strap through the spring bars and beneath the case.
Pass the strap through the secondary keeper according to the NATO configuration.
Place the watch on your wrist, secure the buckle, and pass any excess strap through the keepers.
Depending upon your wrist size, excess material may be folded back through the final keeper for a clean fit.
Strap Care
After exposure to perspiration or fresh water, allow the strap to dry thoroughly before prolonged storage.
If the strap becomes wet, remove the watch from your wrist and allow the strap to air-dry naturally.
Avoid prolonged exposure to harsh chemicals, solvents, oils, perfumes, or cleaning agents.
-
Epistle 1 is fitted with a sapphire crystal, selected for its exceptional resistance to scratching during ordinary wear.
Sapphire is highly scratch-resistant, but it is not indestructible.
Hard impacts—particularly against edges or hard surfaces—may chip, fracture, or otherwise damage the crystal.
Avoid intentionally testing the crystal against abrasive materials or exposing the watch to severe impact.
-
For routine care, gently wipe the case and sapphire crystal with a clean, soft microfiber cloth.
For more substantial cleaning:
Ensure that the crown is fully pressed into its normal position.
Use a slightly damp, soft cloth to clean the exterior surfaces.
Wipe the watch dry with a clean microfiber cloth.
Allow the NATO strap to dry completely if it becomes damp.
Do not use abrasive cloths, polishing compounds, household cleaners, solvents, alcohol, or aggressive chemical cleaning products.
-
Epistle 1 is designed for everyday wear, but it remains a precision instrument.
Avoid prolonged exposure to:
Strong magnetic fields
Keep the watch away from powerful magnets and high-intensity magnetic equipment.Extreme temperatures
Avoid leaving the watch for extended periods in environments of excessive heat or cold.Severe impacts
Dropping the watch or subjecting it to substantial shock may damage the movement, crystal, case, or internal components.Aggressive chemicals
Avoid direct contact with solvents, detergents, corrosive substances, and other harsh chemicals. -
Every Epistle 1 is individually serialized.
Your serial number identifies your particular timepiece within the history of the collection and should be retained with your ownership records.
Do not attempt to alter, polish away, obscure, or remove the serial number.
Your serial number may be requested when registering the watch or obtaining warranty or service support.

The caseback of Epistle 1 bears the inscription:
“THE NAME ABOVE ALL OTHER NAMES”
The engraving is an intentional part of the identity of Epistle 1 and the larger philosophy of the Epistle Collection.
The words reference Philippians 2:9–11, which speaks of the name of Jesus as the name above every other name.
The inscription transforms the caseback from a purely functional component into part of the message carried by the watch.
As with the rest of the timepiece, normal wear may gradually create small marks or changes to the finish of the caseback. These are natural characteristics of a watch that is worn and lived with.
-
When Epistle 1 is not being worn, store it in its supplied Maison d’Aphelion packaging or another clean, dry, protected environment.
For extended storage:
Keep the watch away from direct sunlight.
Avoid excessive heat or humidity.
Keep it away from powerful magnets.
Do not place heavy objects on the watch.
Allow the NATO strap to dry completely before storage.
Protect the sapphire crystal from severe impacts.
If the watch will remain unused for an exceptionally long period, consult a qualified watchmaker regarding battery removal or replacement.
-
Although quartz watches require relatively little routine maintenance, periodic professional inspection can help preserve Epistle 1 for years of ownership.
Service may include:
Battery replacement
Movement inspection
Crown inspection
Gasket and seal inspection
Water-resistance testing
Case inspection
Strap or spring-bar replacement
Only qualified watch professionals should open the case.
Unauthorized modification, improper repair, or damage caused by unqualified servicing may affect warranty coverage.

Epistle 1 is the beginning of an evolving collection.
Future Epistle timepieces may introduce additional movements, displays, complications, materials, and expressions of the collection's central philosophy.
Where the operation of a future Epistle differs from the instructions contained in this edition, model-specific instructions will be added to the appropriate section of this manual.
Always follow the instructions corresponding to your specific Epistle reference.
-
An epistle is more than a collection of words.
It is a message sent with intention.
Epistle was created with the same belief.
The watch on your wrist measures hours, minutes, and seconds, but those measurements are not themselves the purpose of time. What matters is what we do with the time entrusted to us—the people we serve, the love we give, the faith we carry, and the work we leave behind.
Epistle 1 carries its message quietly.
On its reverse are words known primarily to the person wearing it:
“The Name Above All Other Names.”
A reminder that some of the most important things we carry do not need to be displayed for everyone else to see.
Wear it with purpose.
